History of John West Company

Established by two local traders, C H Stanley and T L Pelling, the company was initially named Pelling Stanley and Company. H J Heinz Company
By 1924, all the three separate companies came together under the brand name of Unilever. However, the final merger took place in the year 1961. The company was renamed as John West Foods in the year 1964. Thereafter several outlets of the company were established in Australia in the year 1969 and in Africa in the year 1974. The John West Foods was then taken over by the H J Heinz Company in the year 1997 and this merger further upgraded the quality of their products. In the year 2006, the H J Heinz Company sold the rights of the John West Company to Lehman Brothers banking group.
