The Liverpool F.C. is one of the renowned football clubs of the world which is based in Merseyside, Liverpool. It is one of the most successful European football clubs which has won the FA Cup seven times, League Cup matches seven times, UEFA Cup three times, European Cup five times and have been League Champions for 18 times.

The home-ground of Liverpool F.C. is Anfield and the current manager is Rafael Benitez. The biggest rival of the club is Manchester United as both these clubs have huge fan following and are extremely successful.

History of Liverpool F.C.

The history of the Liverpool F.C. dates back to the year 1892 when this club was set up. The club was set up by the efforts of John Houlding, the then Mayor of Liverpool, who forced Everton F C to leave the Anfield stadium and established the Liverpool F.C. on 15 March, 1892. After entering the Football League in mid-February of 1900-1901 season, the Liverpool F.C. lost 8 games and winning the championship looked like a far-fetched dream but this was proved wrong when Liverpool F.C. won a series of nine matches. The first match at the Wembley ground against the Arsenal Football Club was lost by Liverpool F.C. and the dream of winning the FA Cup was also blurred.

December 1959, was a remarkable period for Liverpool Football Club’s history since Bill Shankly joined the club as the new manager and reshaped the entire team.Under Shankly’s able guidance, Liverpool F.C. won the Second Division Championship match and got promoted to the First Division.They won their first league Championship in the year 1963-64 and their first UEFA Cup in 1972-73.
Thereafter many new managers were appointed who took the club to great heights and the team continued with their success story.

In 2005-2006, Liverpool F.C. won the Premiership by defeating the West Ham club and in 2006-07 they lost the UEFA Champions League final match against A. C. Milan. The club also enjoys en extremely strong fan base and in 2006-07 it had the fourth-highest average of attendance and the second all time highest average of attendance.

The Liverpool F.C. has won the FA Cup in 1965, 1974, 1986, 1989, 1992, 2001, 2006 and has been runners up in 1914, 1950, 1971, 1977, 1988 and 1996.

They have won the League Cup in 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1995, 2001 and 2003.

Winners of the Super Cup in 1985-86, European Super Cup in 1977, 2001 and 2005 and League Championship in 1900–01, 1905–06, 1921–22, 1922–23, 1946–47, 1963–64, 1965–66, 1972–73, 1975–76, 1976–77, 1978–79, 1979–80, 1981–82, 1982–83, 1983–84, 1985–86, 1987–88, 1989–9, the Liverpool F.C. Club has several claims to fame.

The club has won the FA Charity Shield 15 times and the FA youth Cup thrice.
