Church of Our Lady and Saint Nicholas is a parish church in Liverpool. It is known for its beautiful interiors and gardens. It is open for public on all weekdays from 9am to 5pm. It is open on all Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Earlier known as the chapel of St Mary del Key, the Church of Our Lady and Saint Nicholas in Liverpool, is a 750 year old religious site for the Christians. The small stone chapel that stood in its present position was a regular visiting place for the sailors since it was close to the Mersey River. Located within close proximity to the Chapel Street, the Church of Our Lady and Saint Nicholas is also referred to as the 'Sailors Church'.

The Church of Our Lady and Saint Nicholas in Liverpool has claimed to fame for its dedication and commitment to social welfare and charity. Building up the plinth for the ideals of brotherhood, love and mercy, the Church of Our Lady and Saint Nicholas has become an ecclesiastic icon of United Kingdom.

About Church of Our Lady and Saint Nicholas, Liverpool

With time, the chapel was established as an independent parish that included two rectors and two parish churches. Major renovations in the construction
of the church were made post-Protestant Reformation. Further, galleries and spires were added to accommodate the huge influx of worshipers. To make the chapel more suitable for Protestant form of worship, the chantries in the chapel were demolished.

Visited by people from all over the world, this parish church provides spiritual resort to the people from the maritime and naval communities of Liverpool. Masses and congregational meetings that are regular events of the church add to the spiritual fervour of the place.

Church of Our Lady and Saint Nicholas: Attractions

After being destroyed during the World War II, a new structure of Church of Our Lady and Saint Nicholas of Liverpool was constructed at the old church site. The nave and the sanctuary proved to be a visual treat for the tourists for their minute carvings on wood. The Cunard Steamship Company, which is a war memorial is situated in the north eastern part of the church. One of the other attractions of the Church of Our Lady and Saint Nicholas is The Rood, which depicts Christ along with Saint John and Our Lady.

One of the most important Liverpool sightseeing spots, the Church of Our Lady and Saint Nicholas is considered to be one of the most pious religious sites of the world.
