Founded in 1850, the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce and Industry is one of the major institutions playing a key role in stabilizing the economy of the city. The Chamber has progressed immensely since its inception and in recent times comprises of approximately 1500 regular members as well as 600 members affiliated under it.

- Negotiations that led to the nationalization of telephone services in Britain in 1912.
- Chamber of Commerce Scheme initiated to recruit people during World War I.

- Role-played during World War II and involvement in associated with various aspects of national defense and security.
- Formation of the Waterfront Commission in 1961 to supervise the traders and business of the port area.
- The Liverpool Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized the first Overseas Trade Mission in 1966.
- Elected as a member of the Network of Approved Chambers of Commerce in 1997, thus becoming a part of the British Chambers of Commerce.
