Another Place is a unique collection of cast iron sculptures on display at the Crosby Beach.
Another Place refers to Antony Gormley's collection of one hundred figures molded in cast iron. These structures have been displayed on the Crosby Beach and are scattered across three kilometers of the shoreline. Some of these figures are placed at a distance of about one kilometer into the sea.
Another Place- Sculptures
The figures on display in the collection of Another Place in Liverpool are extremely heavy and each of the sculptures weighs around 650 kilograms. The mold in which the figure is cast is that of the artist himself. The sculptures display the various stages of figures emerging out of the sand. The figures face the sea and are projected in a way that they appear to be gazing at the horizon in anticipation of something.
The sculptures showcased on the Crosby Beach are scattered throughout the coastline. The density of their

occurrence varies as one goes towards the sea. This has been deliberately done to ensure that the visitors can have a better view of the sculptures.
The positioning and form of the structures at Another Place in Liverpool do not adhere to the conventional modes of display. It often seems that they are part of some primitive rite and cannot be moved from their position or even distracted. As they are made of iron, the surface of the structures has been covered with rust. Also the occurrence of high and low tides brings about a difference in the way in which one views the structure. At the time of a high tide, the sculptures are partially visible while during low tides they can be seen fully.
How to Reach Another Place
Another Place is accessible from all corners of the city. There are three railway stations which link the Crosby Beach to various parts of the city. These include Crosby, Waterloo and Blundelsands. The visitors to the beach are advised not to venture 50 meters ahead of the shore at any point of time.
