Sharjah TV


Sharjah TV began transmission from 11th February 1989. The channel was commenced officially by H.H. Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, who is a Supreme Council member and Ruler of Sharjah. Sharjah TV introduced one more channel on 22nd of March 1997, to broadcast programs in different languages mainly related to religion and spirituality.

The main aims of Sharjah Television are to contribute to the growth of the Arab and Islamic culture, discuss the social problems and traditions by advising remedies, including improvement and promotion of local people. The channel takes special concern to the requirements of students, family, children and culture.

The necessities of non-Arab community living in the
UAE are also taken care of by the channel.Sharjah Television highlights the prospects of the environment and the community and also comprehensive information on various fields like fun, entertainment and politics.

Sharjah TV gives special consideration to the local productions as it is an ideal way to attain comfort and ease with the society. It also tries to discover and reveal the original Arab world and Islamic qualities. Nearly 85% of the programmes of Sharjah Television are locally produced by the channel. Since 1997, it has regularly participated in 'Cairo TV and Radio Festivals' and has been awarded with many bronze, golden, silver medals and certificates. Sharjah TV was given the title 'The Arab cultural channel' in August 1997 by the Higher Committee held in Beirut.
