Sharjah Science Museum was opened to the public in the year 1996 and enjoys the distinction of being the only communicative hands-on museum in the United Arab Emirates. It also exhibits and arranges programs for the general public to create opportunities for children in Sharjah, and the other Emirates to learn about science and technology. The Museum is situated in Halwan area in Sharjah, which is very close to the Sharjah TV Station.
The main aim of Sharjah Science Museum is imbibe interest for science and technology and motivate the children of Sharjah, and other neighboring areas to pursue engineering, science or technology as a career. The Museum is open to the visitors on Saturdays and Mondays from 9:00 am to 2:00 PM and is open for both boys and girls. While on Sundays and Tuesdays it is open only for girls from 9:00 am to 2:00 PM. It welcomes individuals and families on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 3:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

50 interactive, hands-on exhibits are displayed in the Exhibition Hall of Sharjah Science Museum that aims at making the visitors inquisitive on various topics.

They can assess their performance on the basis of their flexibility, strength and balance, and the results are compared to the average of the same age group.
At the Exhibition Hall visitors can indulge in various activities like using a music synthesizer, solving the puzzle of the human body, attempting perception experiments, making a cartoon, visiting Playspacem experimenting with angular momentum, and many other interesting things.
Planetarium at Sharjah Science Museum
The Planetarium at Sharjah Science Museum takes the visitors to a dreamy world of star and other celestial bodies. On their trip to space they are guided by the Planetarium instructor, who teach them to find the stars and constellations. After the trip to outer space is over, they come to know about the birth of a star, a shooting star, the death of a star, polaris and numerous other interesting facts.
Some of the other exciting places at the Sharjah Science Museum are Learning Center, Static Electricity, Cyrogenics, the Super Cold, Magic Show, Internet where visitors come to the scientific reason behind every wonder. The museum thus helps to develop scientific outlook among people.
