The Government of Sharjah initiated the Sharjah Ramadan Festival (SRF) in the year 1991. The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) manages the fair. The aim of the festival is to promote Sharjah as a hub of culture, entertainment, business and investment. The festival is an ideal place for the entertainment of the whole family including children and elderly people. It also allows consumers to buy different articles at bargain prices.
During this festival, shopping festivals are also held in Sharjah which begins a few days prior to the holy month of Ramadhan. The festival continues for 6 to 7 weeks. During the Ramadan Fair in Sharjah people can participate in the raffle draws that are organized daily and fabulous prizes are given to the winners.

Etisalat, Adnoc, Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA). The event is popularly known as 'Ahlan Ramadan' in Arabic as and 'Welcome Ramadan' in English.
The exhibits of the Ramadan Festival in Sharjah comprises of a gamut of products including cosmetics, textile gifts, watches, novelties, carpets, ready made garments, perfumes, stationery items, toys, home furniture and many other articles. Some of the main exhibitors of the Ramadan Fair are Otazu, Damas, Arabian Automobile, Ajmalís Perfumes, Taher and Sons,Embee Garments Factory, Air Arabia, Mecca Cola, Chen One, Modern Emirates Poultry and Al Mandoos.
The Sharjah Ramadan Festival is a major event of the city that that reflects the rich cultural heritage of the region.
