Al Midfaa was a prominent personality not only in UAE as a whole but particularly in Sharjah. He started 'Oman', the first news daily of UAE in 1927. He was also a close associate of the rulers of Sharjah and advised them about their political affairs. His home has been converted into a live museum where things which he used in his daily life has been carefully preserved. Valuable exhibits related to literature and culture is also showcased.
Al Hisn Sharjah is the official residence of the rulers of Sharjah. The gigantic fort dates back around 200 years. Built in the year 1820, by the late Sheikh Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi, it is a remnant and a witness to the glorious history of Sharjah. This building has been converted into a museum and is open to public.
Al Hisn Kalba is popularly known as the Kalba Fort. The fort located in the Kalba city overlooks the vast expanse of the sea water. The shape of the fort is quadrilateral, built on a 20 meter high platform surrounded on all sides by thick walls. The famous fort served as a defense base for the military. From December 1996 the fort was opened to the public.
