As an important wing of the national government, municipality in Sharjah is responsible for formulating and executing projects associated with the urban development.Along with many other related activities,

such projects are primarily involved with the construction and maintenance of the internal roads and lanes of the Sharjah city.
Municipality in Sharjah is in charge of the Deputy Director General of Governmental Enterprises and Public Services. It is under his able and careful supervision and sincere efforts that the condition of the roads interconnecting the city has improved drastically. Recently, the Sharjah municipal department has concentrated on extensive paving the urban streets. This scheme proposes the construction of as many as 120 new roads in areas like Al Falaj, Al Hazana, Al Gazat and Al Nahda.
Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority
The electricity and water authority department acts as an agency to the Sharjah government. It is primarily concerned with the proper and timely supply of water, electricity, natural gas and bottled water not only to the inhabitants of Sharjah, but to government, industrial and business organizations as well. The electrical services of the department include generation, transmission and allocation of electric power in all nooks and corners of the city. Among other commitments of the department, it also supplies pure and safe desalination and underground water to the residents of United Arab Emirates, for drinking purposes, thereby taking good care of their heaths.
