Directorate of Art, Sharjah |

Directorate of Art, Sharjah is a heritage center in Sharjah focusing on restoration of art and culture in the Emirate. Sharjah is considered as the cultural capital of United Arab Emirates. This Directorate of Art in Sharjah mainly looks after the cultural activities and events of the region. Buildings like the Art Museum, Sharjah Science Museum, Islamic Museum, Al Mahata Museum and some other art related centers of Sharjah are supervised by the Directorate of Art.
Many art events are organized in various venues all across Sharjah under the guidance of the Directorate of Art. The major events organized by the Directorate of Art include:
- Sharjah International Arts Biennial – This event focuses on Arab Calligraphy. The venue for this event is the Sharjah Museum for the Art.
- Uyoon Arabia Exhibition – This event is held every two years featuring the creations of Arab Women Artists. Several talented artists are invited and selected by the Directorate of Art to participate in this event. The affiliated symposium is an added attraction of this exhibition.
- Group and Solo exhibitions - These shows are planned by the Directorate of Art. The Board of Directors either invites popular and upcoming artists or selects participants on the basis of applications received by the Directorate. Organizing these week long exhibitions are the basic duties of the Art Directorate.

- Art Exhibition by Sharjah Art Institute's Graduates - This annual exhibition showcases the creations by the Sharjah Art Institute students and this event is considered as their graduation ceremony.
- UAE Artists Annual Exhibition – This exhibition is jointly organized by the Emirate's Fine Art Society and the Directorate of Art featuring the art works of the local artists of the UAE.
- The international Cartoon Exhibition – This exhibition is held every two years with the involvement of several well known international artists. Special panel of jury is selected to choose the winners.
- Sharjah Art Gallery Exhibitions – This annual exhibition is conducted by the participation of member artists, who work at the Sharjah Art Gallery and display their works in this exhibition.
- Photography Exhibition – This annual competition is to promote photography in the region. The best photographic works are the award winners. The award winning works are displayed in the Art Museum.
The functions of the Directorate of Art are successfully met by the organization. Directorate of Art, Sharjah primly upholds the artistic integrity of the nation and also encourages the influence of international art forms in UAE.
