Exquisite artistic items such as woven articles, embroidered clothes, carved chests and much more embody the traditional art of Sharjah. The unique art of the city is well displayed at the magnificent art museums of Sharjah. Sharjah Art Museum has a permanent display of art collections. Art exhibitions are held periodically in the museum displaying the captivating creative works of local as well as international artists. The activities of the museum are co-coordinated under the Department of Culture and Information, Directorate of Art of Sharjah and the Emirates Fine Arts Society.
Sharjah Art Galleries, in Obaid Al Shamsi house, organizes various art workshops. Currently 11 talented artists practice their art work at this art gallery.

The inhabitants adhere to the principles of Islam and pray 5 times a day. Men wear kandora or dishdasha (long white robe) along with a headdress. Sports are the major form of entertainment in Sharjah. The residents of the city are extremely fond of sports like football, falconry and camel racing. The numerous football, golf and cricket clubs located across Sharjah bear testimony to the citizen’s overwhelming interests in games.
