Al Mahatah Museum Sharjah is a spectacular tourist attraction in the city, in which British records on air transport, dating back to the period between the 1930s to the 1950s, are exhibited. A lot of interesting details are gathered from the history of Al Mahatah Museum Sharjah. Aviation developed in Sharjah after 1930, when the British Crown established the project of Aviation Station or Al Mahatah. It was a huge project, that included many buildings, of which Al Mahatah Fort served as a motel. There were maintenance workshops, land service center, a control tower, a huge runway, hangars for airplanes and much more. Later in 2000 the fort was transformed into the present museum and came to be known as Al Mahatah Museum in Sharjah.
Al Mahatah Museum is composed of the following sections and divisions:
- The aviation division
- The section on old sports
- The division of old professions, innovations and crafts
