It was brought by King Rama I from Vientiane. It is one of the most important images of Lord Buddha in Thailand and is most revered by the people of Thailand. There are statues of King Rama I to King Rama VIII, which are worshipped on Chakri Day on April 6 every year.
Museums: There are many fascinating museums in Bangkok giving a glimpse into its glorious and fascinating history. Some of the museums, which enable the visitor to relive the ancient history and culture for themselves, are Bangkok Folk Museum, National Museum, and Prasart Museum. Bangkok Folk Museum is situated right in the center of Bangkok. It offers a variety of interesting exhibits, which include antiques, traditional household goods, and other items used in traditional ceremonies. The National Museum was built in the year 1884. There are a large variety of exhibits of the Neolithic era here. All the exhibits are labeled in English, which is sometimes not too comprehendible. It also has a small zoo and elephant rides.
