Yasser Seirawan


The famous chess player Yasser Seirawan was born in Damascus Syria in 1960. He took part in many national and international events including US Junior Championship, Chess Olympiads, U.S. Championships and so on.

Born on 24th March, 1960 in Damascus, Syria, Yasser Seirawan is a well known chess player. Seirawan has proved his excellence in the field of chess by participating in a number of games against Jim McCormick and Viktors Pupols.

Achievements of Yasser Seirawan:

Yasser Seirawan scored high in the game played at Wijk aan Zee 1980. Being one of the renowned chess player he has participated in several chess championships including the one held at Haeninge in 1990.In the same year Seirawan was also a part of the Silver Medalist team. He took part in the World Championship Candidate series a couple of times
after clearing the qualifying round. His past performances made him eligible to represent the United States at six Chess Olympiads.

Yasser Seirawan - Winner of U.S. Championship:

In his first year at the US Open in 1985 he became the joint winner and continued to retain the position in the 1981, 1989 and 2000 U.S. Championship. He succeeded in winning the tournament in 1986.

Yasser Seirawan - Host of Pro Chess Videos:

Yasser Seirawan wrote 13 books on chess and worked on the "Pro Chess: Video Chess Mentor for 2½". He hosted the Pro Chess Videos. He has published the Inside Chess Magazine. This famous chess player is the owner of the Inside Chess Enterprises. As a player and a professional Yasser Seirawan has established a name for himself in the world of chess.
