Zurich is a shopper's paradise. Zurich shopping is regarded as one of the most popular leisure activities,of international tourists visiting the city on vacations. Zurich shopping is among the best sources of revenue earnings in Switzerland. Shopping in Zurich involves not only products of international brands, but locally made items as well.

Unlike some other European countries, Zurich hardly has any big shopping malls. Here, the shopping centers and stores are concentrated in and around the common market areas. Boutiques and expensive shops dominate the Zurich market places. Besides, there are stores and vendors as well, selling miscellaneous products and everyday items.

The Jelmoli and Globus Departmental Stores offer the shoppers with world-class shopping
experiences on fashion products. The rest of the area till Bürkliplatz are sprawled with chic jewelry shops, prominent among which are Gübelin, Beyer and the Bucherer. This locality is also popular for housing a number of famous boutiques and shoe stores like Bally Ermenegildo Zegna, and H and M. The subway Shopville shopping center at Hauptbahnhof in Zurich sells a wide range of goods, starting from first-class wines to elegant mementos.

Several bookstore and antique shops are located along the narrow lanes of Paradeplatz and Rennweg areas. The Niederdorf district on the opposite side of River Limmat is known for boutiques, antique stores and book shops. The Schipfe located on the banks of Limmat River is infested with boutiques, and sells quality art and craft works as well.

Several shops situated in the Zurich city center remain open from 9am in the morning till 6.30pm. in the evening on weekdays. On Saturdays, shops are open from 8am. to 4pm. On Sundays, most of the shops remain closed.

Shopping in Zurich is a fun filled experience. From, the delicious Swiss Chocolates to watches and jewelery, the choices offered by several shops in Zurich are mind baffling.
