Zurich Marathon is one of the most popular sports events, inviting numerous sports lovers from every corner of the globe. Zurich Marathon is a long distance running event, covering approximately 43 kilometers at one stretch.
About the Zurich Marathon Team
The participants of Marathon in Zurich are classified into different teams, comprising 3 to 4 runners. All team members should first register themselves as individual runners and after that, as a team. The team members are classified on the basis of their age groups. It is mandatory for all team members to cover the full marathon distance of 42.195 kilometers, without any interruption in between.
The individual team score is decided through the summation of the 3 best team performances. Again, those participants reaching the finishing point within a time limit of 5 hours are also rewarded individually. At the end of the event, the three best performing teams are honored with gold, silver and bronze medals.

These awards are also accompanied by complimentary entries for participating in the next Marathon event. It is compulsory that the three winning teams are present in the award giving ceremony, to receive their prizes. The Marathon race in Zurich begins sharp at 8.30am in the morning and all competitors are required to cross the finishing line by 1.30 pm in the noon.
The Zurich Marathon Course
The eye-catching and expanded Marathon course path is normally plain, but varying in height for 30 meters only. This elevation in the course is required for quick finishing times. On the long running path, the start and the finish areas both are situated at Landiwiese, near the main railway station and the Wollishofen shipyard in Zurich. The running course starts from Zurich and passes through Bahnhofstrasse, Bellevue, Mythenquai, Quaibrücke, Talstrasse and Utoquai, and along the Zurich Lake to several other places.
