Zurich Health

The Zurich Health care system comprises of hospitals funded by the state and private hospitals. The country of Switzerland is a part of the European Union. The country has an agreement with the EU to provide medical services to the citizens of the Member States. Following the agreement, Zurich offers emergency health care by producing an E111 form whenever there is a requirement for treatment or service.

During treatment, full payment has to be made in advance, but later on the patients can claim for refund. A fixed amount is charged, which applies for each 30 day period of treatment. This charge is non refundable. Under normal circumstances, a patient can claim back 90% of the cost of treatment that exceeds the extra charge. Regardless of their nationality, the dependent family members are also covered under this scheme.

Since the travelers from non-EU countries do not fall under the agreement, they should hold adequate medical coverage for the medical expenses.
