Zurich Christopher Day Street is an event, which is organized to celebrate the first big revolt of the gay and other minority communities of New York, to protest against the police assaults that occurred in the 1960s, in Christopher Street of Greenwich Village.
The first Christopher Street Day parade was celebrated in Zurich on 24th June in the year 1978. Initially it was known by the name "Christopher-Street-Liberation-Memorial Day". Gradually, it assumed the form of a major mass procession, attracting participants from all walks of Zurich society. Today, it is considered to be one of the most popular public events in Zurich.

Christopher Day Street is a mass procession involving patronages, slogans, speeches and participations of famous political personalities. It is also seldom regarded as a festive or techno parade, where merry- making forms the prime focus.
During the Christopher Day Parade, the participants walk down the Helvetiaplatz Street, dressed in multicolored clothes. As a part of merrymaking some of them indulge in dancing as well.
