Personal Life of Per Axel Ahlmark
Per Axel Ahlmark, the famous Swedish writer was born on 15th January, 1939 in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. He was a student of Political Science and had done his graduation from the University of Stockholm in the year 1964. In 1978 Ahlmark got married to the famous Swedish actress Bibi Andersson, but after few years they got separated.
Career of Per Ahlmark
Per Ahlmark wrote different political articles in his student life. Later in his life he had written numerous essays and poetries and in 1980s he published his three books of poetry. At this period he also wrote few books on essays and one novel.
Ahlmark had also worked as a journalist for long years. Previously he worked for the popular Scandinavian newspaper Expressen, and then in the year 1961 he joined the largest daily newspaper of Scandinavia and worked for four long years. Since 1997, Per Ahlmark is working as a columnist for the largest Swedish morning daily called Dagens Nyheter and Goteborgs-Posten.

In the year 1994 Per Ahlmark wrote a popular as well as most controversial book called 'Tyranny and the Left'. 'Tyranny and the Left' is considered as a great work on Swedish politics and tourism. His next book 'An Open Sore' has also gained immense importance in recent decades.
'An Open Sore' deals with issues like democracy and dictatorship, food shortage and racial extermination. His recent work on democracy was published on March, 2004 and is known as 'It's the democracy, stupid!'
Political Career of Ahlmark
Per Ahlmark also has a very prominent political career and he was the leader of Liberal Youth of Sweden from 1960 to 1962. From 1960 to 1978, he was a member of the Liberal People's Party Board. After that, from 1967 to 1978 he became a Member of the Riksdag and then in the year 1975 he gained a leading position in the Liberal People's Party and served till 1978.
In 1976 when the first non-Socialist government came into power in Sweden, Ahlmark became the first Deputy Prime Minister and Labor minister. In 1978 Ahlmark retired from his post due to some personal reasons and became the Chairman of the managing Board of the Swedish Film Institute in Sweden.
Ahlmark being a firm supporter of Israel, in 1983 established the Swedish Committee against Antisemitism, and was the Deputy President of the Swedish-Israeli Friendship League from 1970 to 1998.
