The museum tells adventurous tales of prisoners who have escaped from the prison. Some of the notable prisoners whose name strikes the mind while talking about this Langholmen Prison Stockholm are Zeth Höglund, Johan Alfred Ander, Jan Guillou and Ture Nerman. Among them Johan Alfred Andersson Ander was a Swedish murderer. He was the last person, who was executed in Sweden.
Initially, the place where this prison had been constructed was rocky, but during the 19th century, the prisoners were instructed to cover up the island with mud. The mud was dug out from the surrounding watercourses and finally this island was turned into a lovely green garden. Presently, this island is called a lush oasis, where a few number of flora species can be seen.
