Kungstradgarden Stockholm is situated in the center of the city, near the Royal Palace. This garden occupies about 918 acres of land. The garden is one of the favorite tourist attractions in Stockholm. The 700th birthday celebration of Stockholm city was observed at this park in 1953.
Kungstradgarden in Stockholm was initially a kitchen garden. In 1562, it was transformed to a place of tourist attraction. Jean Allard designed the new garden. The Kungstradgarden has been renovated for a number of times. It was changed to a drill ground in 19th century by removing most of the trees from the park. Only the beautiful alleys were retained.
During the birthday celebration of the city, the Kungstradgarden was chosen as a venue. Certain modifications were brought in to renovate it. Fountains, cafes and food stalls were put up at the park.

The Stockholm Real Estate, Streets & Traffic Department is in the charge of maintenance of the park. The rents collected from restaurants and stalls put up in the garden are accumulated for general funds. These funds are utilized in financing different programs and activities in the garden.
It is at Kungstradgarden Stockholm that hot dogs, cappuccino and expresso were served to the visitors for the first time. A skating rink was also set up at Kungstradgarden Stockholm in the year 1962. Various cultural events are arranged here. Christmas markets are held at Kungstradgarden, in the month of December. Summer activities like ping pong, checkers and game of chess are also held at Kungstradgarden in Stockholm.
