International School Stockholm


Mrs. Gisela Dietze in 1951 established International School Stockholm. It is one of the reputed schools in Stockholm. The school was formerly known as the Anglo-American School and it started with only 32 students that soon increased to 58. The present location of the International School Stockholm is at Johannesgatan 18, SE-111 38 Stockholm, Sweden.

The International School Stockholm was set up in Djurgardsbrunns Vardshus with aids from the British Council. As the number of students steadily increased, it was shifted to a new location in Johannesgatan in the year 1967. A total number of 404 students have been enrolled in the school for the session 2007 to 08.

International School Stockholm is considered to be one of the best English speaking schools in Stockholm. The school received affiliation from the Middle States Association in 1988 and also from the European Council of International Schools or ECIS in 1987. In 1989, European League for Middle Level Education also offered accreditation to the International School Stockholm.

    The teaching faculty of the International School Stockholm comprises 60 teachers. The governance of the school is maintained by a Board of Trustees. The curriculum of International School Stockholm is so developed that it helps in the all round development of students. The session of the school continues from middle of August to middle of June.

    Students are offered with several facilities at the International School Stockholm. It has an auditorium, laboratories, gymnasium, cafeteria, library and computer rooms. Emphasis is also given on co- curricular activities other than academics. Separate rooms are provided by the school to cultivate talents in drama, music and art by the students.
