Hammarby IF Hockey is one of the many sports departments of the parent Hammarby IF sports club, which originally started off as a rowing club. It is an Ice Hockey team in Stockholm, Sweden. Hammarby IF Hockey was founded in the year 1920. The team mostly plays at an arena called Hovet, meaning "The Court" in English. This arena, which is meant for playing ice hockey, came up during the time 1955 to 1962.

At present, the Hammarby IF Hockey team participates in the league called HockeyAllsvenskan. HockeyAllsvenskan is the second ranked league in Sweden for ice hockey. Hammarby IF Hockey also played in the top league Elitserien during the two seasons, 1982 - 1983 and 1984-1985.
Hammarby IF led the Ice Hockey chart during the earlier part of twentieth century. This was between 1922 and 1957. There were national championships held during that time period in Sweden for ice hockey. Even after a small gap, Hammarby IF Hockey came to the top intermittently during 1960s and 1970s. A number of national championships were won by this team which includes the championships on 1932 to 1937, 1942, 1943, 1945 and 1951.
