German Church, Stockholm reflects the rich architectural style of the Stockholm. It is located at Svartmangatan 16 and can be easily accessed from the subway station of Gamla Stan. Initially it served as the headquarters of the German merchants and sailors. Few years later, in 1642 it was converted into a church.
This place of worship was designed by the well-known architect of Germany named Jakob Kristler. This building is a good example of the Gothic style of architecture. But unfortunately, due to a devastating fire, this tower was destroyed. Later, in the same place, another tower was set up. This church underwent reconstruction in the year 1910. Among the local people this church is known as the "Tyska Kyrka".

can be heard, whereas, at 12 noon and at 8 pm the psalm Praise the Lord is played. In the southern entranceway there are statues of Moses and Jesus.
German Church of Stockholm and Its Interior
The interior of this German Church, Stockholm mainly reflects the Baroque style of architecture. The wine storage room can be found still be found under the marble-made floor. In one of the chambers of this church there is a statue of patron saint Gertrude holding a goblet. The alter of this German church, was constructed by a gentleman named Markus Hebel.
While exploring the entire church, visitors can check out the king's gallery. Nicodemus Tessin the Elder, the great Swedish architect was the designer of this gallery. The stairs that can be seen here are carved. David Klocker Ehrenstrahl's paintings, on the other hand, are displayed on the ceiling. While talking about this church, it should also be mentioned that in the main gateway a commemorative plate of Peter Hinrich Fuhrman can be seen. He was an owner of a restaurant and is considered to be one of the main donors of this church.
