Among the railway stations in Sweden, Stockholm Central Station is the largest one. Central Station has been set up in Norrmalm district in Vasagatan. Central Station in Stockholm is a very busy railway station and is accessed by many commutes on a daily basis. In July 1871, Stockholm Central Station was opened for the public.
Stockholm Central Station was designed by the architect Adolf W. Edelsvard. The railway station was constructed in Stockholm during 1867 to 71. Renovation works of the rail station were carried out in 1925 to 27. An underground route up to T- Centralen has been inaugurated in 1958.

During the renovation works, a waiting hall was set up in place of the existing track hall.A southern pavilion was also constructed. At the Stockholm Central Station there is a separate waiting hall meant for the Royal family of Sweden.
From the Central Station of Stockholm, commuters can avail Arlanda Express trains, long distance trains and local trains. The Stockholm Central Station also known as the Centralen has a counter for exchanging foreign currency. Tourists and local people can avail tickets for rail from the counter set up at the Central Station. An Internet cafe has also been set up here. The Central Station in Stockholmhas a huge statue of Nils Ericson.
