Branda Tomten, the public square of central Stockholm is a favorite joint of the local residents. The public square is of a triangular shape which is crossed by several alleys. One of the two alleys meets Kindstugatan and the other alley takes the pedestrians to Tyska Brinken and Tyska kyrkan.

by a chestnut tree. Benches are provided for the passers by, so that they can sit and rest underneath this tree for a while. During the months of summer, Branda Tomten becomes crowded with local residents from the city. Many story tellers come to this public square and entertain people with interesting stories.
This beautiful public square of Stockholm inspired August Strindberg to write a play of the same name “Branda Tomten”. The open space of Branda Tomten Stockholm was planned by Johan Eberhard Carlberg, the then architect of the city. This square got its name Branda Tomten which means “the burnt lot”, after a nearby building was burnt in 1728.
