AIK Fotboll


AIK Fotboll is one of the reputed football clubs of Sweden. The club has been set up in 1891 at Solna, located near Stockholm. The football department of the club was opened in 1896. The AIK sports club of Stockholm is also known as the Allmanna Idrottsklubben. It participates in the reputed Allsvenskan.

Allmanna Idrottsklubben in Swedish means the sports club that welcomes the common public to join it. Isidor Behrens founded the AIK Fotboll club in Sweden. By defeating Orgryte IS in 1900, AIK Fotboll won the Swedish title for the first time.

AIK Fotboll generally participated in matches of Swedish masterships. It also played in the league competitions where only football teams from
Stockholm could participate. In this competition, the AIK club emerged victorious in 1908.

AIK Fotboll club participated in various championships and turned out to be the winner for a number of times. It played in Masterskapsserien, Svenska Serien, Allsvenskan, Wicanderska Valgorenhetsskolden and Swedish Championships.

AIK Fotboll in Sweden has a huge fan following. The average attendance at this club in 2006 was more than 21, 000. In 2007 the average attendance was about 20, 000. Some of the players of the AIK Fotboll team are Daniel Orlund, Nils-Eric Johansson, Daniel Arnefjord, Nicklas Bergh, Mats Rubarth, Markus Jonsson and Per Karlsson. The chairman of the AIK is Per Bystedt and the team manager is Rikard Norling.
