On the other hand, Assyriska is also a booming soccer club that has been put into operation by the city's Assyrian community, that presently plays in Superettan, the second highest national league. In basketball, Sodertalje BBK is one among the leading teams in the country, and became Swedish Champions in the 2004-2005 season.
The town is wonderfully located on a bay of Lake Malaren, that is been connected with the Baltic Sea by the Sodertalje Canal, 14 miles in length, with a minimum depth of 10 ft.
