Colombo Zahira College is a famous Muslim School in Sri Lanka. This educational institute is around 115 years old. The founding members of this college are Mr. I. L. M. Abdul Azeez and Mr. A. M. Wapiche Marikar. Initially this college was known as Al Madrasathul Zahira. Thereafter in 1894, the name of this institution changed to Maradana Mohammeddan Boys' School. Finally, in 1911 this college got its present name "Muslim Zahira College". Some of the names that are closely associated with the college history are Siddi Lebbe, Orabi Pasha, Abdul Gaffoor, Wapiche Marikar, Carimjee Jafferjee, Abdul Azeez and P.B. Umbichy.

Those who have passed out from this college during the 1980's formed a group named G80. On November 3, 1993 it was formed. The primary aim of this association is to arouse religious awareness and develop leadership quality.

The college comprises several clubs and societies. They are Computer Club, Commerce Society, Environmental Society, English Literary Union, Islamic Society, Interact Club, Scrabble Club, Science Society, Study Circle and Thamil Changham.
