Spanish and Catalan are the main Valencia languages. The official language of Valencia is Spanish, which is known as Castillian. Catalan or Catala is the co-official language of the city. Valencian, a derivative of the Catalan language is also commonly used in the city.

and occidental are the two dialects of Catalan language. Oriental Catalan is further subdivided into forms, which are Roussillonnais, central dialect, Alguerese and Balearic. Occidental is subdivided into Valencian and North-West Catalan.
However, Spanish is the most important Valencia language. All the schools, colleges and higher studies have this language as the medium of instruction. Being the local language, it is widely spoken as well.
