The Plaza de la Villa is one of the most beautiful squares in Madrid. There are several buildings in the square and each of them has been built according to a different architectural style.

Torre de los Lujanes
The oldest structure in the town square is known as the Torre de los Lujanes. It was constructed as early as 15th century and in adherence to the Mujedar style of architecture. There is a porch in the building that has been built in Gothic style and features three coats of arms that ordain it.

built in accordance with the plasteresque style. This unique style was

achieved by modifying the Spanish architectural style of the Renaissance.
The center of the square is occupied by a statue constructed in honor of Alvaro de Bazan. The Statue was designed by Mariano Benlliure. He was the admiral of the Spanish fleet that was supposed to launch the attack against Britain.
Casa de la Villa
The Casa de la Villa is an imposing structure that stands at the town square. It is also known as the Town Hall. The construction of the villa was started by Juan Gomez de Mora in about 1644. Finally the construction was accomplished by Teodoro Adremans in 1696. This building served the twin purposes of being a prison and a town hall at the same time. There were two entrances to serve the purpose. While the door on the right hand side enabled one to enter the town hall, the door on the left was the entry to the prison.
Plaza de la Villa in Madrid is one of the most oft-visited sites of the city which is well-known for its shopping malls, shops, restaurants, cafes and unique architectural marvels.
