Madrid people are mostly Castilians and the dominant religion is Roman Catholicism. They speak Castilian, Catalanian and English. The people of Madrid eat late, party till early morning, take long afternoon naps called siestas, love bullfights, visit theaters and celebrate their festivals and cultural events with full vigor and zeal.

  • Veranos de la Villa, which takes place during July and August. It consists of a variety of cultural events held over a period of two months.
  • Verbena de la Paloma, which is celebrated from 6th to 15th August each year. This event features traditional dances and other performances associated with the cultural heritage of Madrid.
  • September brings in a series of concerts and theater performances held in the most popular cultural venues of Madrid.
  • International Jazz Festival, one of the biggest music events of the world, is held in Madrid in November.
  • Fiestas de la Almudena is also celebrated in November.
  • Christmas celebrations are held all over the city in December
