Fiesta del 2 de Mayo is observed on 2nd May every year. It commemorates the victory of the people of Madrid over Napoleonic troops in 1808.

Fiesta del 2 de Mayo is celebrated on 2nd May every year. On 2nd May 1808, the people of Madrid resisted the invasion of Napoleon and this day is observed in Madrid is known as Fiesta del 2 de Mayo. This festival acts as a special event when all the natives of the city display their proud at being Madrlieņos. The event is marked by various kinds of festivities where people dance, sing and participate in street parades.

Events of Fiesta del 2 de Mayo:
During the Fiesta del 2 de Mayo some public festivities take place in the Malasaa district. Fireworks display delights the people gathered at Jardines de las Vistillas on the night of 1st May. The Las Ventas ring hosts bullfights. On 2nd May afternoon, the Plaza de Oriente is the venue where a display of traditional military feats is done in honor of the natives who fought bravely during the invasion by the Napoleonic troops.

In 2008, the Fiesta del 2 de Mayo would include a Cinema Marathon which will be held at Cine Estudio del Circulo de Bellas Artes and the evening program would end with JS Bach's Mass at the Madrid Community Orchestra.
