A frequent visitor of this restaurant was the renowned American writer Ernest Hemingway. So popular was Botin that it was mentioned in the book Fortunata y Jacinta by Benito Pérez Galdós. Another name associated with the restaurant is that of the famous Spanish painter Goya who worked here before earning worldwide popularity as a painter.

Botin restaurant of Madrid has four floors each of which consists of several dining rooms like the cellars, The Felipe IV rooms, The Castilla rooms etc. The floors of the restaurant are tiled and the beams are made of wood. The ovens are of cast iron and these date back to the 18th century.
