Hi Seoul Festival


Hi Seoul Festival is an open festival that takes place every year in the month of May. It throws a great deal of light on the tradition and culture of the city. Not only the citizens, but also a large number of tourists participate in this festival of Seoul. The festival first took place on 24th May and 25th May, 2003.

Hi Seoul Festival of Korea began its journey in 2003 in the month of May. It brings together the citizens of Seoul to be a part of the tradition and culture of the city. It is celebrated around various places of Seoul Plaza such as Myeong-dong, Cheonggyecheon and Gwanghwamun. It is an open festival whose management lies with the ‘Hi Seoul Festival Citizens Committee’.

It has been named ‘Hi Seoul’ to express the cordial and friendly atmosphere of the city of Seoul. The 2003 Hi Seoul Festival was held on 24th May and 25th May. Various types of cultural programs are organized during this festival that upholds the history and art of Seoul. From street parade to fireworks, musical to
dance performances, a variety of events makes up the festival every year.

The Hi Seoul Festival, Seoul is also attended by a large number of tourists from various countries. They get to taste the authentic Korean cuisine at the restaurants during this festival. The shops sell various kinds of local handicrafts and items. The city takes a festive mood during the Hi Seoul Festival, Korea.

2008 Hi Seoul Festival

The 2008 festival is scheduled to take place from 4th May to 11th May at 5 Old Palaces and Seoul Plaza of the city. The various events of this festival will be:
  • Paldo Rhythm (the rhythm of 8 provinces)
  • Palsek Byeonshin (the 8 color Costume Party)
  • Palsek Mudohoi (the Gala of 8 colors)
  • Palsek Maehok (the Dance of 8 colors)
  • Manmindaerorak (parade)
