Seoul is the capital of South Korea. It is also its largest city. After the establishment of the Republic of Korea in 1948, Seoul was chosen as its capital. The city was regarded as the nation's Special City. The name 'Seoul' has been derived from the ancient Korean word Seorabeol, which means "capital city". The city, which has been the capital of various states on the Korean Peninsula, has played a major role in South Korea's economic development. It is also the country's political, cultural, social, economic and international center for many financial and business companies. Seoul is considered one of the top 20 world-class cities.

Places of Attraction: Historical structures and museums include the tourist-attracted spots in Seoul. The city has five grand palaces, which are its unique features. They include Changdeokgung, Changgyeonggung, Deoksugung, Gyeongbokgung and Gyeonghuigung. National Museum of Korea, National Folk Museum and War Memorial are the known museums in the city that preserve the cultural as well as historical artifacts of the city. Six major parks in the city are a nice break for those who wish to offload their tensions and relax for a couple of hours. The three amusement parks such as Lotte World, Seoul Land and Everland thrills the visitors especially children.
