The Stormers in Cape Town is one of the top rugby teams in the country. The team boasts of some of the great players of the game and is in the 10th position on the Super 14 Log table.
The establishment of the Stormers came about in 1997. The need to form a team that would make a transformation from participation in the provincial games to the regional games within the Rugby Super 12 format was greatly felt. The Stormers, within the first ten years of its formation, not only managed to build a strong team but also molded themselves to form a brand and became a force to reckon with in the subsequent years.

The Stormers are the most widely supported rugby team in South Africa. Their game is also aimed to entertain the spectators. Their style of play is spontaneous. The individual players also contribute to this showing their true class. The Newlands Stadium is the home ground of the Stormers.
Over the years, the team has had some of the best names in the world of rugby within its ranks. These include players like Percy Montgomery, Schalk Burger, Joe Van Niekerk, Pieter Rossouw, Bolla Conradie, Luke Watson and Schalk Brits. Currently the team occupies the 10th position in the Super 14 Log.
