The Santos Football Club, based at Heideveld in Cape Town, was established in 1992. Also known as the People’s Team, it successfully represented the city and the country at some major football tournaments.
The foundation of the Santos Football Club was laid in 1982. Earlier the club was called Lightboys Santos FC. It is also popular amongst the locals as the People’s Team. The club was founded in the city of Heideveld at Cape Flats in Cape Town.
During its initial days, the club was in the midst of some political and financial crisis. They were deprived of the fundamental necessities and services. It also faced certain problems regarding technical skills. However, it managed to overcome all its difficulties within a short period of time. The club is committed to the task of discouraging racial discrimination in the domain of sports.

Santos Football Clubs-Victories
The Santos Football Club in Cape Town has played in the Federation Professional League or the FPL from 1982-89 and followed a policy of playing a non racial game. The club won the League quite frequently in 1983, 1984, 1986-88, and 1990. The side emerged victorious in 1985, 1989 and 1990 FPL Cup. It also managed to win the 1998 FPL Challenge Cup.
It became part of the National Soccer League in 1990 and participated in various tournaments and represented the city and South Africa at important football games. The club also won the ABSA Cup in 2003 and was the PSL Champion in 2001 and 2002. Some of the key players in the side include Rodney Reiners, Donnie Ronnie, Rodney Theys and Edries Burton.
