Newlands Cricket Ground, an integral part of sports in Cape Town, was previously the base hub of the Cape Cobras but is now host to International cricket matches.
Overlooking the Table Mountains and the Devil's Peak, the Newlands Cricket Ground proves to be one of the spectacular sports grounds in Cape Town. The official name for Newlands Cricket Ground is Sahara Park Newlands.
The base stadium of Cape Cobras, the Newlands Cricket Ground has attained a world wide stature for its cricket pitch, highly suitable for spinners. Earlier the Cobras had played matches like the SuperSport Series, Standard Bank Pro20 and MTN Domestic Championship in this stadium. Now, it is considered to be one of the most important stadiums for test matches.
Of late, many changes have been made in the structure of Newlands Cricket Ground. The field area has been reduced and the seats have been increased.

The events that have taken place in the Newlands Cricket Ground can be chronologically arranged as follows:
- 1889- Newlands Cricket Ground was host to the first test match held between England and South Africa. South Africa was defeated by England by 202 runs and an innings.
- 1992- First One day international was held in the Newlands Cricket Ground in the month of December between India and South Africa. India was defeated by South Africa by 6 wickets.
Apart from the above matches, the stadium has also served as the venue of 40 test matches, 28 One day Internationals including five internationals in the 2003 Cricket World Cup.
