Cape Town Flag


A new design has been adopted in 2004 for Cape Town Flag. The Bureau of Heraldry has not yet registered this flag.

The former design of Cape Town Flag has been changed recently. A graphic artist has designed this new flag. The municipality uses this flag as the main symbol. The Bureau of Heraldry has not yet registered this newly designed flag of Cape Town. The design of the Flag that was used until 1997 was completely different from the one used from 1997 to 2003. The design of the flag was again changed in 2003. In 2004 it was modified a little. The name and slogan of the city was added to the logo.

Design of Cape Town Flag (until 1997)

Until 1997 the Cape Town Flag displayed a different design. It was a blue colored flag with the municipal arms at the center.

Design of Cape Town Flag (1997-2003)

The base of this Cape Town Flag was red. It displayed
the image of the Table Mountain. The white colored image was set against a green and blue background. The left hand section of the flag was blue in color while the right hand section was green. A yellow colored horizontal stripe could be seen below the image of the Table Mountain.

Design of Cape Town Flag (2003-2004)

From 2003 to 2004 Cape Town had a white colored flag with five strokes in black, green, blue, red and orange at the center. The image of the white colored Table Mountain was set against the myriad strokes of colors.

Design of Cape Town Flag (2004 onwards)

The design of the Cape Town Flag from 2003 to 2004 has been modified a little to give it a new look. A yellow border has been added to the white background. However the logo remains the same. The two things that have been further added include the name and the slogan of the city.
