Cape Town Apple Cake Ingredients
- 4 apples skinned and sliced into small pieces
- A mixture of 3 teaspoonful of sugar and 2 teaspoonful of cinnamon
- Flour (raising) 1 ½ cups
- Half a cup and 1 tablespoonful of sugar
- 125 gm or about 4 ounces of butter
- 3 eggs

- 200 ml or ¾ cup of milk
- Half a cup and 1 teaspoonful of sugar
- 1 teaspoonful or about 5 ml of caramel essence

Once the ingredients are taken care of the preparation of Cape Town Apple Cake is easy and quick.
Heat the oven till it reaches the temperature of 180º C or 350º F.
Take a bowl. Put the butter into it. Add the sugar and mix well till it attains a cream like consistency.
Add the eggs to the butter sugar mixture, putting one egg at a time
Put the flour into the mixture to make a thick batter. You can add milk if the batter becomes too thick.
Grease the baking dish. Pour the batter into the baking dish and place the apple pieces on top of the batter. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar powder on top of the batter and place it in the oven. The cake would require a baking time of about 20 minutes.
Preparation of the caramelized syrup
Boil the milk along with the caramel essence and sugar until it becomes syrupy. Take the cake out of the oven and pour the caramel syrup over it. Cream can also be used in place of the caramel syrup. Wait for the cake to cool down, cut into slices and serve.
