AFRO FIESTA is one of the popular music bands of Cape Town. AFRO FIESTA released its first musical album in 2005. Some of the famous musicians of this band are Jibriel Omonga, Papi, Alfredo, Chibo, Mavakala, Jason and many more.
AFRO FIESTA is one of the most popular musical bands of Cape Town as well as South Africa. Previously it was known as the Brother's band. The founder of this band is Mermans Kenkosenki who started his career as a musician. He used to play guitar as a child. He fled from home to become a musician and after coming to Angola and learned to play drums. Mermans later joined a Reggae band in Angola.
The founder of AFRO FIESTA, Mermans's musical career took a new turn when he met guitarist Big Sammy in Luanda in 1995. Along with Big Sammy he came to South Africa. Both of them became a part of Young Bakuba Band, Mermans as a drummer and Big Sammy as a guitarist. Soon after joining this band he realized that his potential as a musician was not fully utilized. So he emerged as a solo artist.

Mermans became quite popular in Cape Town. He founded his own band under the name Brother's Band. This band comprised musicians and singers like Jibriel Omonga (singer and percussionist), Papi (guitarist), Alfredo (Bassist) and many more.
Brother's Band began to perform at different venues including Africa Junction, Kennedy's Cigar Lounge, Marco's African Restaurant, Mama Afrika, Chapman's Peak Hotel and many more. In the year 2004 the band also took part in the annual festival Jazzathon.
The same year the band released their first album. Musicians like Chibo, Mavakala, Jason; Tentino joined the Brother's Band. The band gained its new name AFRO FIESTA at this point of time. They also released a music album under the same name in 2005.
AFRO FIESTA, the album comprises songs of different styles such as Afro-jazz, Latin, Makossa etc. This music album includes songs like Uptown Girl, Tandiswa, Bana Kongo, Kisabananga, Bolingo, Mapwata, Maria Chantel, Francoise, Matinda, Wembila Bailakwando and Generique.
