Built in 1956, the Exchange Bridge of Saint Petersburg was planned by P. Areshev and L. Noskov. The five-lane Exchange Bridge was constructed over River Maly Neva and conveniently joins Petrograd Side to Vasilyevsky Island Spit.
Planned Architecture of the Exchange Bridge
The Exchange Bridge measures 239 meters in length and 27 meters in breadth. The bridge is supported by steel bars and double handles. The sloping arches of the bridge add to the grace of the Exchange Bridge.
The side railings of the Exchange Bridge are decorated with elaborate designs. The bridge is illuminated with modern street lamps and traditional lanterns. The entire outlay of the bridge is based on the nautical

theme.
The architecture of the Exchange Bridge matched those of the surrounding buildings of the Vasilyevsky Island Spit and also of the Palace Bridge. The four arches of the bridge reflect the unique architectural style of the Exchange Bridge of Saint Petersburg.
Communication Across Exchange Bridge
The Exchange Bridge connects the Vasilyevsky Island Spit area to Peterograd Side with much ease and comfort. Several modes of transportation like trolley buses, trams, private cars and cabs move on the bridge.
The five-lane Exchange Bridge provides easy conveyance facilities to the local inhabitants of Saint Petersburg.
