This is a simple wooden cottage but is of immeasurable value to historians as it houses important artifacts and things used by Peter the Great.
About Cabin of Peter the Great
The Cabin of Peter the Great is also known as Peters Cottage. It is the first residential building in the city, which had been put up to house the Czar. This was during the time when the city was being founded and the palaces were yet to be built. Though a wooden structure, it has a brick finishing as the walls have been accordingly painted. This was done because Peter I preferred houses made of stones and bricks to wooden houses. Peter the Great lived here in the

summer months between the years, 1703 and 1708.
The Cabin of Peter the Great is 60 sq feet in area and yet this was the summer palace of Emperor Peter I. Inside the cabin, there is a study, a kitchen, a bedroom and a dining hall. The large windows show adherence to Danish style of architecture, whereas the rest of the building is built in typical 'izba' style or traditional Russian cottages. The ceilings and heights of the doors are rather short. The roof of the cottage is lined with tiles.
