The Admiralty, St Petersburg is one of the important tourist attractions in Russia. It is one of the oldest structures constructed in this city. The Admiralty is basically a dockyard, where Baltic vessels of Russia were built.
The Admiralty of Saint Petersburg was set up between the years 1806 and 1823. Adrian Zakharov has given design to this building. This building features white columns and several statues. It is located between the streets of Nevsky Propect, Voznesensky Prospect and Gorokhovaia. Peter the Great, has originally created this Admiralty which is situated near the Peter and Paul Fortress.

1917, the Admiralty, St Petersburg had been Naval Headquarters of Russia. However, presently this building is used for holding classes of naval college. There is a picturesque garden in front of this building.
Description of Admiralty
This building is 400 meters long, with 73 meter long golden spire that adds to the beauty of the edifice. Naval themes are well reflected through its architectural style. On the top of this spire there is a small liner that is designed in the shape of a personal ship of the Great Peter. In the year 1886 this ship was taken away in order to exhibit in the Naval Museum. Later on, a similar type of a ship model was placed there.
During the siege of Leningrad it was severely damaged. Presently, this Admiralty grounds have been opened to the public. Till now it is symbolic to the power of the Russian people.
