Saint Petersburg State University is a renowned university located in the Universitetskaya nab area of the Russian city. In the early half of the 20th century, the university was recognized as one of the largest in the world. The foundation of this university was officially approved on 28th January, 1724.

Gymnazium
The Gymnazium or the Academic School is St. Petersburg's Specialized Educational and Research Centre. This school imparts education to the students of the secondary school who reside in North West Russia and St. Petersburg city. Students who are skilled in the study of natural sciences, mathematics and humanities are given preferences.

St. Petersburg University's Scientific Library
The library is one of the largest and oldest Russian libraries that first opened with a stock of 1100 different books. The library has various sections, some of which are oriental, geology, biology, philology, economy, geography, mathematics, medical, and chemistry. The reading room is open from Monday to Friday between 10 am and 7.45 pm and remains closed on weekends.
