St. Petersburg State Medical Academy is located at Piskarevsky area of Saint Petersburg in Russia. It is one of the best Russian medical institutes. Initially it was established as Psycho-Neurologic Institute and later expanded to form Saint Petersburg State Medical Academy in June, 1994.
The St. Petersburg State Medical Academy was set up in the year 1907 by V.M. Bekhterev, a renowned psychiatrist Academician. Presently, this medical academy has around 4000 students, among which 500 students have come from across the globe.

SPSMA or Saint Petersburg State Medical Academy comprises academic and medical departments and a hospital. The hospital (Peter the Great Hospital) was set up in 1903. The main goal of this organization is to spread disease preventive education throughout Russia. The students are encouraged to take up research programs.
