Sacha Guitry


Born on the 21st of February in 1885, Sacha Guitry is one of the famous film makers of Saint Petersburg in Russia. Sacha Guitry was born to Lucien Guitry who was a noted Parisian theatre personality. He grew up in a pre- Czarist scenario of Russia and finished his formal education at the age of 17 years.

Life History of Sacha Guitry

Sacha Guitry began writing plays at the tender age of 17. During his lifetime, he wrote about 120 plays, some of which were stage played by renowned artists of that time. Ceux de chez Nous was Sacha Guitry's first attempt in writing, directing and photographing a particular play. Focusing mainly on the actions and not dialogues of the actors, Ceux de chez Nous was a celebrated play of 1915.

The reputed playwriter, Sacha Guitry enacted a role in front of the camera for the first time in the year of 1918. However, during 1920, Sacha Guitry decided not to act as he felt that the movies could not reflect the essence of the movies through enactment. In the year of 1935, Sacha Guitry took the bold step towards directing his
first movie, Bonne Chance. He believed more in dialogues, rather than on visual effects.

In the later part of his career, the Nazi rulers had prohibited him to play roles on stage. However, as destiny rules, Sacha Guitry was imprisoned for two months after the Germans had left Paris on grounds of connection with the Nazi rulers. In the last phase of his career, Sacha Guitry wrote extensively on historical facts.
