Construction of the Pavlovsk Palace was begun in 1781 under the supervision of Charles Cameron, a Scottish master architect. Cameron designed the Temple of Friendship Pavilion, the Three Graces Pavilion of 16 columns, and the Apollo Colonnade. After Cameron, architects Brenna, Rossi, and Voronikhin worked in designing the Palace.
The Pavlovsk Park was landscaped between 1803 – 1828 by Pietro Gonzaga, an exponent in landscape designing.This park is adorned with alleys named the Young Fiance, the White Birch, the Green Dame. Each of these alleys is decorated with exquisite sculptures of idols, vases, and animals.

The ownership of Pavlovsk Palace was transferred to several hands before it was converted to a museum after the Second World War. After Paul's murder in 1801, Pavlovsk Palace became the residence of his widow Maria till her demise in 1828. Thereafter the Palace was inherited by their son Grand Duke Mikhail Petrovich, who being childless willed it to his nephew Konstantin Nickolaevich. Subsequently poet Konstantin Konstantinovich, son of Konstantin Nickolaevich became the owner of Pavlovsk Park and Palace. From this time onwards, the Palace was recognized as a heritage building of St. Petersburg by the Romanov rulers and converted into a museum.
Though the Palace suffered considerable damages during World War II, it was restored and preserved as an important and attractive edifice in Russia.
The Pavlovsk Park and Palace in Revolyutsii Street remains open from 10 am till 6 pm, except Fridays.
